There was 1:32 on the clock in the 4th quarter. We were down by 6, on our own 36-yard line. No timeouts. It was 4th down. The season was on the line. And my 13-year-old running back looked at me and said: “Coach, just give me the ball. I can do this.” Most people shrink back when the game is on the line. But if you want to grow a church from 0 to 200 without burning out, you need that same “give me the ball” mentality, and a game plan.
My name is Todd Tolson. I coached youth football for 20 years. And when I planted my second church in 2011, my two worlds collided. I realized that the same principles that build a championship football team are the exact same principles that build a healthy, growing church.
